Professor Akan Bassey Williams is the 6th Vice-Chancellor of Covenant University. He is a former Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University. He is currently the Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies and Chairman, Committee of Deans. He earned a B.Sc degree in Chemistry from University of Calabar, an M.Sc degree in Petroleum Chemistry from University of Port Harcourt and a Ph.D degree in Environmental Chemistry from Covenant University. He is a Professor of Analytical/Environmental Chemistry.
